ITINERARY : 04Days – 03Nights
Arrive Luang Prabang
Dinner at the hotel | Villa Chitdara or similar
Our guide is waiting to meet you at the arrival hall and you soon will be transferred to the hotel. Luang Prabang is perhaps the best-preserved traditional city in Southeast Asia. The tranquility and charm of this town with its splendid natural scenery and cultural sights make it one of the most delightful places to visit in Laos. The city is a home of many significant temples (Wats) and those are to be included in your today program including Wat Visoun – half water melon stupa -, the shrine of Wat Aham, and Wat Xieng Thong, a magnificent piece of architecture, which nestles at the meeting of the Mekong and the Nam Khan River. The temple structures are decorated in various ways with gilded stuccoes as well as doorways and the main sim has a marvelous 'tree life' mosaic pattern on an outer wall. We then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as viewing a beautiful and panoramic sunset over the Mekong River. Then it is time to stroll down the Night Market, where you can find a lovely selection of textiles made by the local and the hill tribe people surrounding Luang Prabang.
Bike + Elephants + Trekking
Breakfast at the hotel, Lunch along the journey | Homestay
Size up at our bike shop on one of our quality mountain bikes and head out of town with your guide. Our first stop is at the “Golden Stupa” temple, Wat Phon Phao, with a birds-eye view of the city and gorgeous grounds – one of the few temples in the area with nuns. A short distance further we visit Ban Phanom, historically the King’s preferred silk hand-weaving village. You’ll even get a chance to see the resting site of Henri Mouhot, the French explorer who popularized Angkor Wat. The last stretch of our ride takes us into the Nam Khan River valley with stunning mountains, waterfalls, elephants, and a river flowing through it. Take a break at the camp on the banks of the river then take a boat up to the Tad Sae waterfall. Here you can enjoy the clear spring water, which invites you for a refreshing bath. Experience an unforgettable interactive experience with Asian elephants as you ride through the surrounding jungle. Reenergize with lunch at the falls before a 1.5-hours trek into the “Fair Trek” Project area where communities directly profit from your visit. Your homestay in the foothills of a large mountain gives you an unforgettable firsthand chance to know the culture and traditions of the Khamu people in a picturesque landscape.
