Explore the village on foot with your guide who leads you through the villagers’ houses. Embark on the boat crossing the Mekong River to Chomphet Village where you pay a visit to Wat Long Khoune, the 18th century pagoda. It is another Buddhist temple that once served as a sanctuary for those seeking for spiritual rejuvenation. A visit to Wat Tham Sakkarine “Buddha cave”, it believes to be a sacred place and over centuries the place fills with Buddha Statues. Challenge yourself with a walk up the steep steps (100+steps) up the Chomphet temple where you get a panorama view of the surrounding hills, Mekong river and Luang Prabang town. You may notice two stupas that house the ashes of wives of the former king of Laos. Continue the hike to Ban Xieng Men for another 20mns passing through villagers’ houses, their vegetable gardens, tiny food stores, domestic fowl and occasionally seen river weeds drying out in their garden. Time to embark on the boat to a pottery village, Ban Chan, of only 300 inhabitants who mainly have specialized themselves in manufacturing pottery, bricks, lamps, as well as terra cotta tiles for over centuries. Late lunch to be served on the main land.
